Akira is a film co-written, directed and produced by A R Murugadoss. It is an action drama with Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha in the lead. Akira moves from Jodhpur to Mumbai and hails from a dysfunctional family. She is short on temper and falls in trouble with her college mates and, later, the cops.
Audience vs Critic
The audience hasn’t completely hated Sonakshi Sinha’s Akira. The critics haven’t dismissed it either. Sonakshi Sinha packs punches really well and makes the film an edge of the seat watch. Apart from a few things here and there, critics did not hate Akira, neither did the audience.
Story & Plot
Akira is inspired from the South film The Silent Teacher that released in 2011. The ones who watched that were not that happy to find out that A R Murugadoss’s film was a copy of the 2011 film. The plot, by itself, is an interesting one that will keep you hooked till the end.
It’s the first time an out-and-out action film with a female lead character has released in Bollywood and Sonakshi Sinha has done a good job of hitting and beating people up! The supporting cast, including Anurag Kashyap and Konkana Sen Sharma, was a strong one and kept the film gripping.
Akira’s music is very energetic and full of beats. The music of Akira has been received quite well by the audience. It fits well in the film and takes the story ahead.
