During an interacting with the media some time back John Abraham had proclaimed, “I love action and I believe I am an action hero. Injuries are part of it. I have had three knee surgeries recently. I have also had foot surgeries, broken both my hands. It's okay, I am fitter, stronger, and faster.” Certainly playing an action figure does not come easy. And strangely enough it is these impediments and how actors come out of them that what makes them so much more interesting. Here’s looking at a few instances when John did that!
John met with an accident while filming for his upcoming film Force 2 in Budapest. He was required to break a door for a scene but the actor ended up damaging his knee. He was advised to rest his leg for three days at least, but John insisted carrying on the shoots to help the producer complete the film in time. This has only worsened the condition of his the knee, following which he had to go through a minor surgery.
While shooting for the first installment of Force franchise John needed to jump from a moving goods train to another. It required him to land on his feet after jumping but instead he lost his balance and fell on a heap of stones which were lying in the compartment. The actor was seriously injured as he received more than 40 injury marks along with several scratched on his back. During an interview later both producer Vipul Shah and director Nishikant Kamath said that their hearts were in their mouth when they saw the actor fall as they feared that his spinal cord may have been damaged but luckily the injuries were minor. Not only this while shooting another scene for force he had tore his ligament and suffered from excruciating pain for several weeks.
While shooting a fight scene for his blockbuster film Race 2 with former Mr. Universe Andrew, John injured himself. He got a deep gash in his back that required 14 stitches. That however did not deter him from continuing the shoot.
While shooting for the climax scene of Shootout At Wadala, a blank bullet which needed to be fired from a range of 15 ft, was shot by Anil Kapoor from a distance of merely 1.5 ft. Though the bullet did not hit his face, it grazed the right side of his neck. A burnt mark from the same can still be noticed near his collar bone.
Kabir Khan’s first feature film Kabul Express featured John Abraham in the role of a journalist working on a story in Afghanistan. Things got tricky when John received a few death threats from the Taliban. Undeterred, the actor continued the shooting in tight security which included sixty armed guards on the sets.
