Bollywood’s most powerful couple, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are celebrating their 9th wedding anniversary today and we couldn’t be happier! The couple met on the sets of Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, but it wasn’t love at first sight for these two. It took them several years (and films!) to fall in love. Here’s a look at all the songs that made us fall in love with the couple.
It’s silly that people couldn’t notice their sizzling chemistry on screen in Kuch Naa Kaho, right? In the song ‘Achhi Lagti Ho’ they seem to be serenading each other for real, than reel! The beautiful landscape, with waterfalls was bound to give them goosebumps. Also, Abhi is such a charmer! Of course, he made an impression on Ash from the word go. And Abhi cannot be blamed. Aishwarya looked SO beautiful in the film that we’re sure he had to try hard and keep his eyes off her!
The couple gave us relationship goals (for real!) with their partnership in Guru. It was on the sets of Guru that the two finally fell for each other. They were good friends until then. The song ’Tere Bina’ shows how two lovers pine for each other when they’re away. Abhi and Ash did a brilliant job of it! Since Guru, Abhi and Ash have made it a rule to not pair romantically on screen. We don’t understand why, because this couple works brilliantly on the big screen, don’t you think? Aishwarya’s graceful dance in the Tere Bina must have mesmerized Abhishek. We think she even taught him a step or two, given how good a dancer she is and Abhi doesn’t really excel in that department.
The song ‘Behka Diya Hume’ shows Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai romancing in Lucknow in the period drama Umrao Jaan. Umrao Jaan was the couple’s 4th movie together. In this film, Abhishek and Aishwarya don’t end up together with a ‘happily ever after’ story. It showed Abhishek (Nawab) abandoning Umrao (Ash) over rumours of betrayal. Umrao Jaan is one of Abhishek’s best performances in his Bollywood career yet and Aishwarya was positively glowing in the film. Coincidence? We don’t think so! The two were too much in love but weren’t ready to show it just yet.
‘Behne De’ from the film Raavan is a special one! In the Mani Ratnam film, Abhishek Bachchan plays the villain who kidnaps Aishwarya. While keeping her captive, Abhishek (Raavan) falls in love with Aishwarya! Their real life love story is a mature one. When on sets the two get immersed in their character. How else would you explain the hate in Aishwarya’s eyes for Abhishek, who played the villain in Raavan. However, the couple had started dating full-fledged now and were totally smitten! The beautiful locations as a backdrop to Aishwarya’s distinctly aesthetic looks, designed by Sabyasachi for the film, was bound to make Abhishek Bachchan to fall even deeper in love with her.
‘Kajra Re’ is another special song featuring Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan. It’s special because in this song Aishwarya is not just teasing Abhishek, but also Amitabh Bachchan with her thumkas and captivating eyes! The song was in the film Bunty Aur Babli that starred Rani and Abhishek in the lead. Aishwarya only made a special appearance in the film for this song. Since Kajra Re, there have been numerous item numbers reaching blockbuster charts, but none like Kajra Re. The sheer chemistry between Ash, Abhi and Big B is tantalizing. Aishwarya had once said she was comfortable doing the song only because she knew it was with Abhi and her future father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan. Can any other song win over this one? We don’t think so!
