Kajol and her portrayals in films need not to be mentioned as iconic, she has always been best at what she does. No doubt she has always been a favourite of actors and directors she has worked with. She has dared to be different in all her portrayals, and has never disappointed the audience has far as her acting is concerned. And so here are five iconic roles that nobody but only Kajol could have done justice to:
The successful pairing of Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan had yet another time proved that nobody does romance like these two superstars. Kajol plays an NRI who has been brought up in London, but not for once forgot the Indian sanskars that her parents had taught her. The story gets even more interesting when she falls in love with Raj who she meets during a Europe trip, and then a tug-of-war between her heart and her family is what finally decides the fate of the film.
In Gupt she played a fanatic girl in love with her childhood friend. This was one of her best portrayals as she played a character with a shade of grey, and this time it was a girl who was playing a psychotic lover in a film. This was Kajol’s first ever negative role, and the lady slayed it like nobody’s business. She even won many awards for portraying a negative character on screen.
In Dushman Kajol was seen portraying a double role, which in itself was an achievement as her character for once had to portray a sweet and simple girl, at the same time the other character was of a tomboy. The film was about a sister seeking revenge for the death of her twin sister from a man who rapes her. The film explored the many emotions that one goes through during the death of someone who you love dearly.
Does this character even need a mention? Kajol was absolutely loved in the role of tomboyish and yet a very girly Anjali who fell in love with her best friend Rahul portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan in the film. Kajol was absolutely loved in the film, and the film turned out to be one of her career best. This film was Karan Johar’s directorial debut, and this not only marked his entry in the industry but was also a beginning of an unbreakable friendship between Kajol, Shah Rukh, and Karan. Karan even considers Kajol to be his lucky mascot and even made films back-to-back starring the magical pair.
