“Karisma was a good student, she had complete faith in my ability as a director. She trusted me and my vision of the film,” says Darshan talking about shooting Raja Hindustani and subsequently directing Karisma in Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya. The director reveals that when he met Karisma at the premiere of Yash Chopra’s Darr, he assured her that she will be as well-represented in Raja Hindustani as Juhi was in Darr. Later when Aditya Chopra saw the final cut of Raja Hindustani, he was so impressed with Karisma’s work that they signed her for a role in Dil Toh Pagal Hai, which was being contemplated then.
“Though she came from a family of actors, she worked hard for the role and it showed. She not only got the much deserved critical and commercial acclaim but she as an actor was able to stand on her own, in a movie opposite Aamir who was an established actor,” points Dharmesh Darshan. Their first film together got Karisma her first Filmfare Award. Darshan further reveals that he along with Karisma had worked really hard on her character, he was involved in every aspect of the role, right from the costume selection along with the designer, to the rehearsals.
Karisma made her debut with Prem Qaidi in the year 1991 and has completed 25 years since. With so many iconic roles and films to her credit. “Since then Karisma has done many movies and played various characters. Today she has everything, health, wealth and love, on the occasion of her, I would wish her calm and peace of mind. Happy Birthday, Karisma!” wishes Darshan.
