Television and Bollywood are two altogether different ball game in our country, the two have refused to hit the off shore together until Bollywood celebrities took a fancy to be a part of reality shows as judges. Whether Bollywood celebrities on these shows are to up the glamour quotient or whether it is their keen interest in the reality show that makes them sign television deals, audiences have quite liked the idea of celebrities being a part of the show. And now a new entrant on the television arena is Jacqueline Fernandez who is going to be a judge on Jhalak Dhikkla Jaa on Colors. While she sure has been grabbing many an eye balls for the show, here is a list of other reality shows that are banking on Bollywood stars for their popularity:
The last season and the ongoing season of Roadies saw a major change in its format, the most surprising one being that Raghu Ram and Rajiv Laxman were not a part of the show. The show saw a new format wherein there were four celebrities who donned the judges’ hats. Rannvijay Singh, Karan Kundra, boxer Vijendra Singh, and Esha Deol were seen as the judges who lead their team.
And now following the Roadies X2 format is the ongoing Roadies X4 format, the format is similar but Neha Dhupia and Price Narula (winner of Roadies X2) are donning the hats of judges along with Karan and Rannvijay.
The dance reality show involves the concept of a star paired along with a choreographer, and the two together have to create and perform new dance forms. What makes the show interesting is its concept of getting non-dancers on board, and the winner too is selected on the criteria of a non-dancer being able to learn dance to the T.
The recent season will see Jacqueline Fernandez as a judge along with Karan Johar, who has been judging for the past four seasons, and Ganesh Hedge who was also a judge last season. But the last season also had Shahid Kapoor as a judge.
India’s Got Talent has reached season seven, and has showcased one of the best talents in our country. The show since its beginning had Bollywood stars as its judges, of which Kirron Kher is the only constant. Joining her from the past four seasons are director Karan Johar, and the svelte Malaika Arora Khan.
The show is a stunt based reality show inspired from American fear factor. The show involves its participants in performing daredevilry stunts and complete against each other by overcoming their fears.
The show, from its episode one, has had only Bollywood celebrities as their host and judge. The first and the second season was hosted and judged by Akshay Kumar who has rightfully owned himself a title of the Khiladi. The third season was hosted by Priyanka Chopra, followed by a fourth season which was again hosted by Akshay. The fifth and the sixth season was then hosted by director Rohit Shetty, and last and the latest season saw Arjun Kapoor as its host.
Indian Idol Junior is a singing competition amongst the talented children of our country. The show till now has had two seasons. The second season caught quite a pace as the judging panel included Bollywood celebrity Sonakshi Sinha. She also made her singing debut on the show. Shalmali Kholgade was present for the preliminary selection rounds and the first elimination round, post which she was replaced by Sonakshi to take over as a judge.
Nach Baliye is a dance reality show which is a couple dance contests. The celebrities come on the show with their better halves and are assigned choreographer who prepare them for their challenge with other celebrity couple.
The show from its beginning has had Bollywood celebrities judging it, of which Shilpa Shetty has been a part of three seasons back to back. Last season saw Preity Zinta on the judging seat, but what appalled the audience was that Chetan Bhagat was also a part of the judging panel.
The reality revolves around the concept of finding love, but is nothing like it. It involves young girls and boys who through love are trying are trying to secure their place in the Splistsvilla, and the only way to secure place for boys is to be in good books of the Queen, and for girls is to be in the good books of the King. The show is quite interesting as the contestants engage in fights, jealously, love, hatered, friendship, bromance, backstabbing, and some PDA.
The show from its second season has had Nikhil Chinapa host the show, until only recently he was replaced by Rannvijay Singh in the eighth season of the show. But what interests the audience is that season seven, eight, and now nine has Sunny Leone host and judge the show. Sunny as a part of the show has sure upped the glamour quotient, but she is also good at giving advices to the contestants on the show.
