The trailer of ‘A Flying Jatt’ was released to quite a thunderous response couple of days back. The film, director Remo D’Souza says, will turn the concept of superheroes on its head. And taking the responsibility of the same is the young shoulders of a confident Tiger Shroff.
Here’s what the 26-year old actor told us when we met to speak about the film.
Does playing a superhero mean working extra hard?
I had to work really hard for the film. We are trying to show a very different kind of action in the film. There is a lot of harness work and lot of martial arts-based action. Our director Remo sir gave me lot of time to prepare for the action sequences and also to learn a little bit of Punjabi culture.
Who is your favourite superhero?
I think every kid's hero is their dad and for me my superhero is my father. Talking about superhero films, I loved my dad’s superhero film 'Shiva Ka Insaaf'. That's my all-time favourite film from dad's work. As a child, I used to watch that film over and over again. For me, he was Superman and Batman combined. My father didn't have to try to be a superhero. It came naturally to him. He was tall well-built and his body-language rendered itself effortlessly to the superhero mould. I had to work hard to get into the superhero mould. I hope I'm not compared with my father or with Hrithik Sir.
Do you think it’s time we see more superhero films made in India, considering we watch so much from Hollywood?
In Hollywood, there are various superhero films like Spiderman, Superman and Captain America. Someday we will have an Indian version of The Avengers. We have Krrish and Ra.One and now we have A Flying Jatt. I think our audiences are used to seeing certain kind of cinema and someone like Remo sir is trying to make something different.
What is you fear in real life?
I am scared of not being able to do something. I am motivated by fear!
You have a large fan following among kids.
I am lucky enough to do all this and I am loved by children.
Recently a Mumbai-based writer had accused you of stealing his script for your next film Munna Michael. Any comment?
I am not a thief! I don’t steal or lie. I am not a cheat.
