India and Pakistan though two completely separate entities, happen to have very same sensibilities, at least when it comes to entertainment! So, the fact that a lot of Bollywood movies get banned in our neighbouring country is a little disappointing, considering the business lost. The latest movie to get banned in Pakistan is John Abraham and Varun Dhawan –starrer, Dishoom.
The young heartthrob, Varun Dhawan, took to twitter to talk about his disappointment, “Really upset that #Dishoom is banned in Pakistan. I don’t think the film eventually shows any country in a bad light. It’s a wrong decision.”
Here is a list of a few other Bollywood movies that got banned in Pakistan due to a variety of reasons.
This full-on entertainer ran into censor trouble in Pakistan and has been refused a certificate by the Pakistani Censor Board. Though there has been no statement issued by the Pakistani censor board, the main reason is being touted as the various indirect references made about Pakistan.
Even though there were three Pakistani actors who play very important roles, the film got banned in our neighbouring country. As per the Pakistani media reports, the film was banned “for it portrays a negative image of Muslims, and the negative characters in the film also have Muslim names".
Though passed by the Pakistani Censor Board, the Lahore High Court judge Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan issued the order to ban the release of the film in the theatres in Pakistan. The plea was filed by JuD chief and 26/11 mastermind, Hafiz Saed saying that movie was promoting ‘filthy propaganda.’
Ek Tha Tiger got banned in Pakistan for the talking about the issues of anti-terrorism and subjects which were against Pakistan's national institutions or security agencies. The movie was said to be hampering the national interest of the nation.
Though not a shocker, the movie got banned in Pakistan for it showed many senior Pakistani officials supporting the Taliban in Afghanistan. The sad part was that the film got banned a few days prior to its release.
The movie was banned in the country for the movie showed Pakistan in a bad light during the time of Partition.
Well, the movie received raised umpteen eyebrows and ruffled many feathers in India, during its release. The fact that it got banned in Pakistan is really not much of a shocker!
The number 786 is considered sacred in Islam, for the representation of Allah. The release of the movie got banned in Pakistan for it was believed that it would ruffle a lot of feathers, and hurt religious sentiments of people.
