An outsider in the industry-Kangana Ranaut- has successfully completed 10 years in the industry. Kangana debuted in Bollywood in 2006 with Gangster, which starred Emraan Hashmi. The movie went on to become a blockbuster, but left Kangana struggling for work thereafter. Talking about that she once said, “I know there are people for who big names matter, but I am not of that thinking, it doesn’t matter to me. When I was at rock bottom, people refused to work with me. And I thought they are so dumb (sic).” And the same Kangana has won her third National Award this year.
Inspite of a few hit films and stellar performances in films like Fashion, Tanu Weds Manu, Raaz: The Mystery Continues, Krrish 3 she wasn’t considered a game changer. It was only after Queen that things turned in Kangana’s favour. After 8 years, everyone did sit back and take a notice of her acting prowess. Moreover, the most noticeable thing about her career has been that she has climbed the success ladder all on her own without any Khan or a Kapoor in her films. Kangana Ranaut also became the first actress who pulled the blockbuster Tanu Weds Manu Returns into the 100 crores club without any actor’s presence in the film.
Kangana has also been extremely vocal about her feeling and thoughts-be it about work or personal life. She went on to admit that she was an unwanted child; she went on record to say, “When I was born, my parents, my mother especially, couldn't come to terms with that fact that they had another baby girl. I know these stories in detail because every time a guest visited, or there was a gathering, they repeated this story in front of me that how I was the unwanted child.” Kangana also admitted being in violent relationship with a guy from Bollywood, she said, “It was a very difficult and very harsh time. I was physically abused.”
Kangana has never tried to be politically correct like her counterparts and it take a lot of courage to be unapologetic when you are a public figure. Some say she is a rebel, some say she is a trendsetter while some say she is a misfit. While everything was practically going in her favours, we think Kangana just made a small error of locking horns with a Bollywood A-Lister Hrithik Roshan. Probably it only Kangana and Hrithik who know what happened between them, but will Kangana ever get away after ‘locking horns’ with a male super star? Kangana simply went ahead and broke the unspoken rule of the industry of keeping everything behind closed door.
After Kangana’s allegations against Hrithik, Hrithik stood against Kangana with a full PR and Legal machinery, so much that Hrithik’s ex-wife Sussanne also supported him in this war with Kangana. However, the question which stand here unanswered is, did Kangana really lie about the whole incident, which makes Hrithik not guilty? Or Is Hrithik in an aim to maintain his ‘good boy’ image trying to sabotage Kangana’s career and life? Or did Kangana just suffer the allegations because she broke Bollywood’s unsaid rule…
