There is no better place than Aurora Cinemas in Mumbai, to go and experience the Rajini madness! The craziness that the star commands is way bigger than all the hype! So on the first-day release of Thalaiva's latest offering, Kabali, we went to see what the craziness was all about. Since, videos can do a better job than the words, scroll down to experience the Rajini rush for yourself!
The traditional practice of Doodh Abhishek is carried out across the country by various Rajinikanth fan clubs to pay obeisance to the living god, Rajinikanth. At Aurora cinemas, a puja and havan ceremony is performed in the nearby Ram Mandir, and then a procession is carried out from the temple to the theatre premises. But, it does not end here! Once in the theatre premises, the ritual of doodh abhishek is performed on a giant cut-out of Rajinikanth, which is then followed by prasad ceremony. And, it is after so much fanfare that the fans finally proceed to the theatre for the screening.
While the doodh abhishek is the traditional aspect of the festivities, the younger fans opted to express their love for Rajinikanth in a much more flashy format, with a impromptu flash mob!
Amidst the chaos, madness and truckloads of enthusiasm what was evident was the undying love and devotion of the people for Thailava. With the tickets all sold out till Sunday evening, a few hopeful fans could be seen queuing up for the tickets of the next available show. However, we bumped into these guys and when we asked about how they managed to come for an afternoon show on a working day, their excuse was a tad bit unconventional.
Apart from the song and dance routine, chaos and hordes of people at the venue, various organisations and NGO's had also organised blood donation and free health check-up camps. What was impressive was not only the initiative but also the number of people turning up at these makeshift tents to donate blood. As we signed off from the theatre, what stayed with us was the madness, or rather love that fans had for the living legend, Rajinikanth!
Though the film opened to not-so-positive reviews from the critics, but when have the fans ever cared! While the fans did agree that the movie fell short in terms of Rajinikanth style, but they were more than happy to see their God on the screen again! As one of the patrons said, "You Don’t Give Stars To The Star!"
