Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, And Diljit Dosanjh stareer Udta Punjab is a film that one should watch for the story and not for the star value. The film brings to light the drug abuse issue with the youth in Punjab, and how the whole of Punjab is now being affected by it. The film is not only about the fight in Punjab, but as it turned out, the filmmakers had to lock horns with the CBFC over the 89 cuts that they suggested to be made.
While it almost seemed impossible for the film to release on the desired date, the filmmakers finally managed to win the case at the High Court and release the film with only one cut. If this wasn't a challenge enough, the film's uncut version was leaked onlne and was available for download. The people involved in the filmmaking process saddened by the issue of piracy requested people to watch the film in the theatres. But with the kind of hype the film created, we asked the first day first show cine-goers whether the film managed to stand to their expectations or not.
