Tanmay Bhat’s snapchat story, a parody video of Lata Mangeshkar in conversation with Sachin Tendulkar, discussing Virat Kohli’s the cricket innings has created quite a stir. While many slammed down the comedian as they moreover considered it as an insult to the icons, many also came in to support the freedom of speech and expression which is provided by the democracy. The controversy garnered more than the required attention, and soon became a topic of prime time news debate.
But that’s not all! The controversy by time became a point of discussion, and our B-town celebs o opinion their thoughts towards the same. And this is what they had to say:
Lata Mangeshkar though didn’t give any official statement, but as per sources she stated that she didn’t know who Tanmay Bhat is. A report quotes her saying, “I have not seen the video, and neither do I have any inclination to do so. I will not comment about it.”
Talking to Bombay Times, Asha Bhosle quoted, “I have not seen the video nor do I intend to. My grandson Chintu informed me about it as I don't even watch television. I don't want to say anything except for we are talking about a woman, who has worked for 70-80 years of her life, spreading joy and happiness through her music. I now want to wait and watch how many people will stand by us. Most people have a knack of debating about it for a couple of days and forgetting about it. I want to see what respect and honour do the Bharat Ratnas get in our country. The government has bestowed this honour upon them. They must make a note of this.”
With many people slamming Tanmay for being disrespectful to the two icons, Sonam Kapoor’s reaction towards the controversy is different. Sonam in support of Tanmay Bhat said that she was shocked on people’s over-reacting towards a snapchat story.
The veteran filmmaker too took it to Twitter to slam Tanmay Bhat on being disrespectful towards the two icons. His tweet read – “People of India are terribly hurt by new comedy/jokes on elder icons the inspirations to generations. Learn to respect elders. Stop it here.”
Further he with another tweet mentioned that young comedians should learn from Kapil Sharma. He tweeted, “Kapil sharma show is most popular comedy show today- has he ever hurt anyone or disrespect senior icons/legends? Let’s learn from him.”
