Whether the comment made by Salman was blown out of proportion or was truly insensitive, we leave the choice to you. The comment created quite an uproar amongst people who asked Salman to apologise for the comment. And while the controversy fails to die, here is a list of celebrities who have at least something to say on his ‘rape comment’:
“We all agree that it’s a horrible thing to say. Something that is extremely insensitive. But let’s not encourage that mentality where we want to point fingers at each other and want to feel greater by running people down by trolling them.”
"In the last few years, I’ve come to realise that I’ve made so many inappropriate comments myself. I don’t think I am someone to sit in judgment for anyone else’s comment. It’s not about taking sides. I myself say so many things. Who are we to pass judgement, or to decide who should do what? Who has to do it, will decide themselves. Personally speaking, I don’t think I am anyone to make a comment on this – I’m so inappropriate myself. I’ve done some really wrong things too in the last two years."
"First of all, you should be asking the person who made this comment. It is very important for the media and for me as women to use our power and talk about the real problem which is happening in India every single day to so many women instead of pushing a controversy for a headline, which is unfair. There is so much reality happening like a brutal rape case in Bihar took place - why is no one talking about the issue? A lot has been said about the Salman issue. I don't want to add to the noise. I would rather bring notice on real issues. The real problem is us talking about how to treat our women better in India and how to treat women better generally."
“People are choosing sides according to their own agendas. I don’t want be part of any agenda. I am close enough to express my viewpoint to personally. I will tell him personally. Why will I say it in public.”
"There are some things which we say while talking but we should look at the intention - why was it said? I definitely have no doubt that whatever Salman said, the intention was not wrong. It was just the kind of (statement) where we compare things - 'I worked like a donkey' so now people will say you used the word donkey so some animal activist will come after you."
"He used the comment metaphorically. The discussions over it are over and there is no point in repeating it and asking questions about it. The intention has to be considered."
"Why are we making it out his individual responsibility? It is very unfortunate that he made an analogy like that. It is very thoughtless of him, in a way daft of him. I am sure he will be regretting it and will apologise for it. If he really cares, he should apologise for it. But does the responsibility lie alone with him? The guy who was interviewing him? When the man gives an analogy like this, he laughs at it. He does not question him. In his mind, he is thinking I have got a headline. How irresponsible it is to make that into a headline. I would have taken that out. It does not send a great signal. It empowers misogyny. Suddenly, people have got an issue to jump on."
"It's a sad state how few negative minds can perceive n misinterpret Salman khan 's symbolic expression of a deepest agony of human pain with his going thru stunts on shoot. If I know Salman he respects the woman most genuinely."
