Did You Know? Kangana Ranaut Was Not The First Choice For Vikas Bahl

Did you know? Kareena Kapoor was the first choice for ‘Queen’, a women-centric film that ultimately landed in Kangana’s kitty and went onto become a huge hit. Bebo was first offered to play the lead in the film but she, unfortunately, turned down it. She also said that she didn’t want to do anything that wasn't great.

When asked about her refusal to projects like 'Queen', 'Ram-Leela', 'Chennai Express', 'Fashion', 'Kal Ho Na Ho', 'Black' and others which subsequently went to other actresses, Kareena said she did not regret her decision. She said, “I feel honored and glad to give work to other people. I hope they (actresses) become stars as I have rejected big films.”

“If I don't want to be a part of a film, I am happy not to do it I'd rather chill at home and read a book, or do something else. And that's a policy that I will stick to. Let people say, do or write what they want to,” Kareena added.

‘Queen’ was directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Madhu Mantena. Kangana Ranaut played the role of an under-confident Punjabi girl Rani from New Delhi who embarks on her honeymoon to Paris and Amsterdam by herself after her fiancé calls off their wedding. Kangana who was encouraged by Vikas Bahl to improvise her lines during filming is credited as an additional dialogue writer. ‘Queen’ was premiered at the Busan International Film Festival and released theatrically on 7 March 2014.
